You Are Enough Just as You Are

You Are EnoughYou are enough, just as you are. The God of love is delighted in you. Because the Lord is love, He is the embodiment of love, He can only love you one way: unconditionally. No changes are needed on your part. Because God is love, He is incapable of loving you less than 100%. Love is who He is. So long as you are His child and have received Christ into your heart, you have received all of Him. 100%. And Christ is Love. All love comes from Him. Because it is who He is, He can’t hold any of it back.

God is not like a human who may love you only if you please them, or only if you treat them a certain way, or only if you do certain things for them. God gives all to us, including His son. (Romans 8:32) He withholds nothing.

He loves you fully, completely, without reservation or hesitation just the way you are right now, this minute. You can’t do anything to turn Him away, to discourage, dissuade or disappoint Him. You can’t earn more love. There is no more. You’ve already got it all and you can’t change it. He doesn’t love you for what you have done or what you have not done. You didn’t do anything to deserve it and you can’t do anything to lose it.

We are all imperfect sinners. We do not deserve God’s love. We certainly cannot earn it. No one can earn God’s love. The scripture tells us “There is none good, no not one.” Romans 3:10. You have all of God’s love simply because He chose to give it. God is in charge, not us. He decides who is worthy based on His will, not on our behavior. Frankly it has nothing to do with us. It’s all about Christ:

Christ called your name – you simply responded
Christ choose to live in you – you merely received Him.
God pours His love out to His son – you just got to be included in the party.

Isaiah 30:15 “For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
”

We are only called to rest and receive.

The Holy Trinity is having a love feast. It’s already going on. It’s been going on since before time began. The love is flowing between God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. You’ve been invited to step into that flow. You didn’t have to earn the invitation. Christ looked down through eternity and said, “ I choose you, and you, and you over there, and you, too.” He said “I have so much love I have to share it. It’s overflowing in its abundance so I’m going to create a people just so I can pour out My love to them.”

You are enough because you were chosen by God as an object of His affection.

You are a good enough:

  • Wife
  • Mom
  • Christian
  • Friend
  • Daughter
  • Sister
  • Co-worker

If you fully trusted that you are good enough, what would you do differently in your life?
What obstacles would be gone?
What dream have you put on the shelf waiting for someday when you are good enough to pursue it?

I love this, Susan, and it is SO true. The enemy often likes nothing better than to send us a quite different message other than the one Scripture promises — that we are loved no matter what, just because of who (and Whose) we are. Thank you for the encouraging reminder!
